Clontarf is a popular coastal area which runs from the Malahide Road to the boundaries of St Annes Park. With a mixture of low and medium density housing, and a great selection of clubs and associations, it has become one of the most popular areas in North Dublin.
Locals love it for the seafront which can be safely walked by day or night in all weathers. They enjoy the Bull Wall, an invigorating two miles if you go from end to end. Tired of the sea, then take to the park, St Annes Park is the second largest park in Dublin, second only to the Phoenix Park. St Annes has a world famous Rose garden, a pitch and putt course, Tennis Courts, mini motor racing circuit, a purpose built children’s playground, and of course miles and miles of trees and grass filled with birds, squirrels, and joggers, dog walkers, mums with babies and the elderly taking a stroll.
Back to the coast, Clontarf residents enjoy walks along the beach at Dollymount, golf at Royal Dublin and St Annes golf courses. Kite and wind surfing on Dollymount strand, sailing from Clontarf Yacht Club, even the kids can enjoy the water with 5th Port Sea Scouts at the end of the wooden bridge. If you want to be alone you can simply fish off the beach or bridge for Sea Bass (in season), or you can simply sit among your fellow twitchers and watch the vast array of sea birds do what sea birds do.
If you like your sports land based then you can choose from the GAA, soccer, rugby and cricket, tennis, the gym and swimming pool, pilates, dance classes, there’s even a walking club. For personal training you can go right to the edge.
